The big 2

We have been married 2 months today. It has been an amazing 2 months.. lots of change, lots of acclimating, lots of learning, but mostly just me.. me filled with more love then ever for Josiah, each other, and our new life.

I got Jay a new pair of shoes for our 2 month anniversary. I left it with a card and chocolate rose on the counter for him to find after i went to work.

Yep i got a job. I started this Tuesday at The Blue Monkey Gluten Free Bakery. Been there 5 days and i have closed and opened alone already and did both today. They have a whole sale place where they do all the baking and special orders and sell to other places they have about 10 people involved in that. I'm in the retail shop.. I'm the only one.. the start of the job was slightly crazy but after 5 days i feel confident and plan on Monique-a-fying the shop.

I have found that most people have no idea what gluten free really means. Your first thought is "gross" or "that's a hippie thing" i thought the same things. Till i have educated myself with what it all really means and how good gluten free things can taste. I have already heard so many story's from customers and what it has done for their physical health and even to their organs. We get allot of people that has serious symptoms if they eat gluten like celiac or people with other allergies we also carry dairy free things.

What is Celiac Disease?

Celiac disease, also known as gluten intolerance, is a genetic disorder that affects at least 1 in 133 Americans. Symptoms of celiac disease can range from the classic features, such as diarrhea, weight loss, and malnutrition, to latent symptoms such as isolated nutrient deficiencies but no gastrointestinal symptoms. Those affected suffer damage to the villi (shortening and villous flattening) in the lamina propria and crypt regions of their intestines when they eat specific food-grain antigens (toxic amino acid sequences) that are found in wheat, rye, and barley. Oats have traditionally been considered to be toxic to celiacs, but recent scientific studies have shown otherwise. This research is ongoing, however, and it may be too early to draw solid conclusions.

From what customers have testified to even if you are not diagnosed with an actual disease to gluten if you try and live a more gluten free life it can affect you greatly in a positive way.

I miss my husband. Us working makes it seem like we hardly are going to see each other. I hate that. Since i had to work today i couldn't go out of town with him on an outreach and he'll be gone all day till late and ill be here.. not with him.

Just seems so silly when you think about it.. spending all this time at jobs and work to get money to spend on things that doesn't even matter and are just going to pass away.

I would rather have more time with my husband and people then have more money. period.

The tale of videos

You may or may not know that i like to make videos.

My real interest is in editing but i also love to act.

I discovered video editing in 7th grade with a friend of mine we made tons of silly kid videos together.

As i got older i made a decision to only make videos that glorify God.

I mostly took Christian songs and made a music video of my interpretation of what the song meant to me.

I had a friend that started cutting.. it bothered me so much, the more i looked into it the more i found how normal it was for 14 year old girls to be cutting themselves. That lead me to make a video about cutting. I made that video back in 2008 and am still today astonished to the response i get to it. Girls message me daily telling me they cant stop cutting how they know what they are doing to themselves is hurting not only them but people around them but they just cant stop.

Later on the friends i knew started to not be the friends i knew anymore they were changing, everything around me was changing.. crashing down. I was ok, never once tempted to follow or had any desire to.. but everyone i loved was.. leaving me. This is when i discovered what drugs do to a person.

I discovered how much hate was in the world. How much the world has really fallen since Adam. How much everyone would rather be in their brokenness, hatred, and sadness then give it to the only one that can wash it clean.

I found out for myself what it really meant to give everything to God, to lay it at his feet. I had to learn to not only give him the bad things in my life i didn't want but to also give him the things i loved and cherished. Only when i was willing to give Him what i loved did he take away what i hated.

I started to be more aware of the world around me. Not only the people that i once knew how messed up they got and would not answer the calling set before them at my witness but how much more the whole world was messed up. In America and out.

I discovered the word... poverty.

I realized how much i had overcome not with my own abilities but with Gods grace. What it truly means to be cleansed of passed sins, never doing them again and never looking back. I'm not what i have done, I'm what Ive overcome.

Josiah and i spent Christmas eve over his family's house

We drove Christmas morning to spend Christmas with my family

I had been writing a diary type scrapbook i started back in June full of letters and recorded visits to Josiah. I used it as a way to express myself being in a long distance relationship, i wrapped it up and gave it to him for Christmas :)

It was Air's first Christmas!

In Hong Kong we had Australian friends that introduced us to the Christmas tradition of crackers that we do right before Christmas dinner

Christmas crackers or bon-bons are an integral part of Christmas celebrations in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries such as Australia,Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. They are also popular in Ireland. A cracker consists of a cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly decorated twist of paper, making it resemble an oversized sweet-wrapper. The cracker is pulled by two people, and, much in the manner of a wishbone, the cracker splits unevenly. The split is accompanied by a small bang or snapping sound produced by the effect of friction on a chemically impregnated card strip (similar to that used in a cap gun). The chemical is Silver fulminate^[1], high explosive.

Crackers are typically pulled at the Christmas dinner table or at parties. In one version of the cracker tradition, the person with the larger portion of cracker empties the contents from the tube and keeps them. I am sitting here thinking about life with Josiah.

Looking around at my favorite job that has taught me so much that i have put so much pride and joy in, how many 19 year old girls can say that about their job.

As much as i am going to miss it i remember i only got this job because of God in the first place before it i would have never thought i would make such amazing relations and be a manager.

To me it just means the next part of my journey even something as simple as a job can only be that much more better that God has in store.

I cant help the sadness but i wouldn't have it any other way. I'm sad to leave it because it showed me so much and bettered my life, would i rather be happy and be saying "good riddens!"?

Is it strange that i make such a big deal about a dinky Barista job that anyone could do. I don't know. Anything i put time thought and love in is a big deal to me.

This being my last week here I'm remembering and reflecting on allot. How before i got this job after my old job went out of business. I was sitting on my bed and i said "God i put this in your hands i lay everything before you and lay it at your feet i have no say in it.. when I'm in interviews give me something no one else has, make them interested in me because i am different then all the others they are seeing... i am different because i have you.. let them see you.. in me"

I get nervous about the new things I'm going to have to do moving to Corvalis that I'm not use to. I have to stop and remember that i have no reason to be nervous. I have God who has never once let me down or left me out to dry and has overflowed my life with blessing.

I also have Josiah. Who since the beginning has been there for me. Remembering back to when we first met and only a few weeks after we were instantly best friends. After a month i was telling him things i would never tell anyone else, it was like we had known each other our whole lives but really only have known the other existed for 4 weeks. I feel so strong and confident around him like we could fight any battle that comes against us. I'm not naive to think we wont fall, get pushed to the ground, or want to retreat but i will stand by that i believe as long as we have each other and God as our number one and always put Him before everything and before each other.. we could be in the middle of nowhere and be stronger and happier then anyone could possibly imagine.

If you think that's young love.. get back to me in 20 years. Ill prove you wrong.

23 DAYS TILL THE BIG DAY!!!

Everything has been going pretty well.

I got all the basic furniture i need for our new home and gobs of ideas for potential furniture to come :D

I got blessed at my showers with so much cool stuff its amazing really.

I have less then 2 and a half weeks till i move my stuff so i have been packing a little everyday.

I uh, have allot more then i thought.

Might have something to do with i still have and ware clothes from when i was 9.

I don't feel stressed very much about the wedding, I'm sure i will soon... ??

I think it might be because I'm so on the go here getting all my doc appointments out of the way, working as much as i can, planing the whole 'leaving everything and my family'.

I got my blood drawn yesterday for the first time.

That was. Exciting. Didn't hurt at all. I had to explain to the nurse i lived in China. We had to beg them to use their sharpest needle because they were so darn blunt, jabbing it in your arm it hurt for weeks.

So i was like.. bring it on!!!! that all you got!?!?

Okay. Maybe not.

The nurse did feel the need to tell me countless times how small i was.

She also said "You have nice veins"

Anyway.

All is good here.

I am way excited.

I spend Thanksgiving with Josiah and his fam next week.

I'm taking a greyhound bus... for the first time... pray for me ;)

We have a haunted house play at church we are doing.

We have had a total of 1 practice. We practice once more tomorrow night then do the play Friday-Sunday night.

I don't even have all my lines written out yet.

In the Tucson church this would be called a 'Kitchen skit'

Which means the skit they are performing was made up 5 min prior from acting it in front of people.

Kitchen skits are never intentional fyi.

It will all work out though.

I'm excited. Praying for a good turn out. More importantly people to get saved that actually want to learn more and serve God.

Oh Josiah didn't tell you?

I am bringing 3 kids along for the ride in good ol Corvallis.

They are reptiles.

Of course.

This is Spike. He is a bearded dragon. He thinks he is really tough and will poof out his jet black beard to try and scare you but when you reach out your hand to touch him... hes got nothing. Just a big spiky baby. Him and i are buddies.

This is Bullet. He is a crested gecko. He creeps Josiah out. I actually think he is one of the coolest reptiles i have owned. He has rows of hair on his hands and tail that feel like little suction cups and allow him to climb up walls. He is SUPER soft and feels like an eraser. He is also a suicide jumper, he jumps and doesn't take into consideration hard surfaces. He doesn't blink.. ever.. he licks his eyes to give them moisture.

This is Zipper. She is a corn snake. She was my very first reptile. She is one i will NEVER give up. If i had to she would stay in the family. Super cool creature and the start of my reptile love.

Well its a rainy, wet, gloomy morning.

Josiah visited yesterday. it had been a whole year since i saw him.

Okay. 15 days. Close enough.

That's a magic bracelet.

I bought them back in June.

I have worn mine every single day since.

Okay so mine broke and i glued it back together way to small and it wont come off my wrist.

The point is I am a romantic... that is what were sticking with.

I had my dress fitting last night.

Funny how you buy the dress then you have to spend more money just to make the dress you bought actually fit you.

Seeing the drees on did make me more excited though.

I am super happy with it.

I was going to use my moms veil but its the wrong color white so i still have to get that.

I picked out the brides maids dresses already so that's done.

Invitations and bridal shower invites are all made and done just got to send them out.

Still got allot of stuff to do but the main big things seem to all be getting done.

64 days till the wedding. 14 since i have seen Josiah. 1 till i get to see him again.

I get my ring back from being re sized today. Only felt like it took.. eternity.

I like having it to remind me of him and all our memories and fun times together and that day he proposed and made me the happiest luckiest "lil squirt" as my customers at work call me.

I just asked Jackson and Abbi to be in the wedding.
They both said they would delighted...

I am still debating if i am going to try and rock the flowers or get an Ikea cover.

I think i could rock floral like never before. But that's just my humble opinion.

So I'm thinking i might incorporate it into our room.

I was thinking for this glass bowl to put the sand from the place we are going to honey moon at.

So that sand would be in the bottom and the sea shells in that baggy on top of it.

Jay informs me the sand will be wet as it is December.

Do you remember that mirror i got the other week? I am thinking that will go very well in the room as well.

She gave me these napkin bracelet holders

She also gave me a bunch of candle holders.

Soooo... i had an idea to put the napkin holders on them and then paint them gold. Possibly red but I'm thinking gold will blend better cus i am going to have gold around the house along with reds blacks browns and greens.

So you have kinda seen my slow progressing ideas for all of the soon to be apartment.

Except the kitchen and bathroom.

Kitchen will still go around blacks and reds since it will probably be viewable from the other parts of the apartment. I really have absolutely nothing for the kitchen. Like not even a can opener... :)

The bathroom I'm thinking plumb purple and greys.

OH and when i was doing my registry at Bed Bath and Beyond i purchased these lamps.

Set of 3. 1 floor 2 table lamps.

Chapters in my book

So i have this big long check list of things to do to prepare for the wedding and moving which is great i want to keep myself busy and doing things besides working all the time and the occasional sleep i get. It helps me to keep my mind off the fact that i haven't seen him for 10 days. Him as in Jay. Jay as in Josiah. Josiah as in the man i am going to live the rest of my life with. I call him Jay, people don't get it or even think it makes sense which is also great its something i have done from the very beginning.. as long as we both get it everyone else can keep staring with boggled looks :)

Invitations, bridal shower, dress fitting, registry's, decorations, color scheming, keeping people informed, ring resizing, finding apartment stuff, cake... the list goes on and on... along side with working, church, Halloween play, Thanksgiving, holiday season.. All so much fun and happy to be on my feet when sometimes i just want to curl in a bed wishing i could just go say hi to Jay for 2 seconds. Or maybe drop by his work bring him a juice ( he is a juice man.. so i couldn't bring him a coffee) Or maybe have him drop by my work keep me company through the slow morning. Or maybe drop a surprise gift or note on his porch. I cant do any of that. Kinda rings out my heart a little.

This morning. Opening up shop i stopped for a second. looked back on things. The story behind Jay and I. How so fast God just flipped the page on both our lives and how incredibly clear it was that God had opened up a door of timing and it was up to us to act upon it. I believe God opens up doors of opportunity and timing to people allot but it is up to them to actually walk through it before it closes. Sometimes people are to scared of whats on the other side or petty things like what people will say or maybe just too wrapped up in wordly things to even see the door.

As i was thinking back i started to smile. How clear and amazing our little journey has been. How God has blown every measly expectation of any sorts we have had to dust and blessed us both in so many ways. How he has given me a man i can follow to the ends of the earth with putting God before everything and doing what is most important, winning souls for Jesus.

This is just the first Chapter of so many more. In this one i have to leave some people that have helped me become the person i am. My parents who have been nothing but an example to following Gods will and having righteousness at home. Bringing their 2 year old to China having people scowl at them for doing such a thing. If they didn't put God first they would have never brought their 6 and 2 year old children to China but then i would not be the person i am today. My parents do not still have a church overseas but their young girl who saw the hard times ever since a little girl has one day wanted to be there. Overseas reaching them for the Lord.

I also have to leave my sister and her beautiful baby girl. So many crazy things happen in life but somehow sister love just breaks through it. She has always been there for me and someone i always knew i could run to if i felt backed in a corner. We have never been in a fight in our entire lives and never held back anything either. Shes someone i hold dear to my heart and will hurt to leave.

Even though in this chapter i have to leave my family, friends, and my co workers who all have blessed me and changed my life God has placed me somewhere that He knows i can call my home. Not forgetting or replacing this home just starting a new chapter. The last chapter doesn't disappear from the book, the next page just covers it for now.

I will be apart of a whole new world and beautiful loving family that can help me and embrace me while i continue to all the other chapters of my life.

I thank God for my the book i am in, all the chapters in it. I pray that i stay in the lines of my book and not stray off the page or skip any lines.

I totally just bought tables.

Ok, ok so some of you are disappointed but this is amazing for me so please leave me to my bubble.

I got the Coffee table

and 2 side tables

all for 50 bucks.

They are Cherry wood and solid wood. The guy also gave me the lamp and 2 new still in plastic white lamp shades for free. Don't know if i will use the lamp because of the green but i will always take free things.

The Guy i bought them from emailed me after i picked them up:

"Thank you again Monique for buying the furniture. Like I said to you when you and your parents were here, the tables were passed down to me when my mother died about 10 years ago and it was time for me to pass them on to another person and move on with my life. Kind of what your doing. So it made me feel good to talk to all 3 of you and know that the furniture was going into good hands and allowing me to help you start your life down in Oregon. One quick question.....Can I assume that by your e-mail address your a Christian and go to church? When you e-mail me back....just let me know...I'm curious....That is awesome if you are and do go to church."

^^ that makes me smile.

My mom and i are going to polish the tables and they are going to look super stinking awesome.

She said if i didn't want to take them i could leave them with her.. she wants them.

I got these solid brass candle holders at an estate sale. I think they are pretty cool.

This table is currently at the coffee shop that i work at but when December rolls around its all mine baby >:D

So in case you are new here.. I'm getting married.

Opening shop at my work the morning after coming home from getting engaged my boss left me this little note

She also put sticky notes all over for me to find.. in the till.. in the fridge, on the light switches..

Seriously. Best boss ever.

Went shopping to find a few floral ideas. My mom and i are making most everything putting different things together to make it unique and different.

The wedding colors are going to be black, red, and white.

Groomsmen in black and red ties

Brides maids in black dresses and holding something like this

I will have this with added black ribbon and possible feathers thrown in there

I still got lots to do but i am having so much fun along the way.

OH and i still cant believe i got boxes laying around already

I miss the man i am going to marry.. its been 4 days since Ive seen him

Proposal story

Here is the wonderful story of how i got engaged:

It was my first time ever visiting Jay's hometown. He took me to Silver Falls. We walked around and explored for a long time.

After hours of walking around and having a great time laughing being silly and just happy to be together I'm ready to leave. The hotel is an hour away and i don't want to be rushed to get ready before church. We start to head back climbing up the trail away from the water fall. I see this strange guy that looked like a mugger passing us all covered up thought that was odd but dismissed it. Jay starts complaining that his head is really hurting so we sit down at the top of the trail. He starts to look in his bag "Crap, i think i left my phone down by the water fall!" so my very compassionate caring side said ill run back and get it since his head hurts but he insisted to come with me.

So we walk all the way back down.

We get to the bench where he left his phone.. there was like 5 people standing there " Has anyone seen a phone? i lost it..." we all look for it but the phone is not there.

So now he kneels to the ground and scrambles in his bag

"Oh... it was in my bag the whole time..."

Really? We are going to be late for church I'm tired hot sweaty and you had it in your bag the whole....

all is forgiven!

Turns out his head ache was a scam. Mackenzie and Jason were late and there was no cell reception there so Jay was trying to buy time so they could get there and take pictures and video tape.

Oh and what about that odd looking guy from before?..

Apparently Jason took the whole "Be disguised so she doesn't recognize you" to heart

And that's how it all happened!!!!

Bam. I'm engaged.

BOOYAH!

Hi I'm Monique.

This is Josiah.

We are getting married.

The wedding day is December 11th i got lots to do and lots of crazy ideas. My life is about to change before i know it moving to a small town away from my family and friends nothing is going to be the same.

I am so blessed and God is with me and helping me all along the way of this journey.

though the thoughts of leaving my home i live in now can be scary I'm so excited for the new home that awaits me and all the wonderful people involved. I can not wait for my wedding day to come so i can be with the love of my life and not have to feel the hurt of this long distance struggle.
